EquATA Wins Big Lottery Fund
19 March 2010
This announcement means that the Big Lottery Fund has awarded £10,000 of assistance which will be used to improve the outdoor therapy facilities. The funds will be used to erect four new stables, fencing and re-surfacing of the yard area at EquATA's facility set within the beautiful, tranquil and private woodlands of Grafton Underwood, Northamptonshire.
Founding Directors Mrs Hawkins and Mrs Stobbe say they are,
"Delighted to receive the money, most especially because it is a real endorsement of our equine assisted therapy service, and enables us to help more people in our community."
Future plans for EquATA include fundraising to enable installation of a disabled toilet facility; to build a non-permanent outdoor coverall shelter to be able to offer therapy all year round in changeable weather conditions; to set up a hardship fund in order to help more individuals; and also to sustain the services of therapy staff and horses.
EquATA would like to thank Kettering Borough Council for the grant of £350. The grant was used to purchase a new horse saddle to help us with therapy sessions for ‘The Horse Boy Method’ and we also bought a wheelbarrow, and a refurbished printer for our office.
